Dear Parents and Guardians,

Broward County Public Schools is pleased to introduce to you our latest mobile app that provides secure, personalized access to student-specific information – anytime, anywhere.

Through your smart device, you can check your child’s latest details on nutrition and wellness, transportation and academics, and receive information in the way you want it – text, email or by phone.

The new mobile app features were design especially for you:

• The Nutrition and Wellness feature displays meal menus and account balances so you can make sure your child receives a healthy diet every school day.

• The Transportation feature displays bus route assignments, pick-up/drop-off times and bus stops so you can keep track of your child’s location before and after school.

• The Academic feature displays daily attendance, courses schedules and library obligations so you can support your child and follow their daily educational experience.

COLLEGE AND CAREER TRIP TO TO LOS ANGELES

Our Drama, Film, and TV classes have a unique opportunity to visit see and experience the television and film industry on this once-in-a-lifetime field trip to Los Angeles.

Students will visit UCLA’s school of Theatre, Film, and Television, Warner Brothers Studios, Sony Pictures Studios, and Universal Studios. They will participate in performance-based workshops backstage at Disneyland. We will even spend one day devoted to the science-related offerings of Los Angeles at the La Brea Tar Pits and Griffith Park Observatory.

If you would like to child to participate in this amazing opportunity, please download the three attached documents, sign the permission slip & TERMS AND CONDITIONS paper, and send your $800 deposit in the form of cash, check, or money-order (payable to FALCON COVE MIDDLE SCHOOL) with your child on Monday (12/5) or Tuesday (12/6) at 9:00am.

This trip is limited to the first 50 paying participants. After the 1st 50 deposits are received, a waiting list will be established in the order paperwork is received.

NOTE: No money will be accepted if you are placed on the waiting list until a spot becomes available.

“EVERY CHILD DESERVES A SMILE” TOY DRIVE

According to the US Census, 14.5% of families in Broward County live below the poverty line. Falcon Cove’s TV Production Class is doing our part to bring smiles to the faces of our neighbors across the county by collecting new, unwrapped toys for the students of Boulevard Heights Elementary. We are very proud to assist the students of this Title 1 school, many of whom will receive no holiday gifts simply due to their socioeconomic status. Toy donations or all kind, for all students K-5 (ages 5 to 10) are accepted and welcome!

Toys should be brought to the TV Production room, 102G, before school or during Period 1 no later than Thursday December 8.

Regardless of financial, religious, or cultural background, we believe that EVERY CHILD DESERVES A SMILE!

JA Finance Field Trip

Dear 8th Grade parents,

The JA finance Field trip experience is just around the corner, by now you have received the required paperwork for your child’s participation. at this time, we are looking for volunteers to help us during the different days of this activity. Your support helps tremendously to the success of this enriching experience for our students. please consider helping our JA finance Field Trip program. Below you will find information necessary to sign up.

The dates for the JA Finance program field trips are October 25th ,26th,31st, November 1st and 22nd. We need Parents and or family member volunteers for each date listed above (volunteers must be 18 or older) . This activity is off campus at Broward North College Campus, from 9:30am to 3:00pm. You must be available to stay a full day, provide your own transportation, and bring your own lunch. You may volunteer for one or more days. Thank you for volunteering and helping to make this a more positive experience for the 8th grade students.

The students attending each JA field trip date are sorted by lead 8th grade social studies teacher as follows:

Gillman- Periods 1-6 Tuesday, Oct. 25th.

Angelo – Periods 1-6 Tuesday, Oct. 25th.

Powers/Ian – Periods 1-6 Wednesday, Oct. 26th.

Bryant- Periods 2-6 Monday, Oct. 31st.

Malca -Periods 1,4 &5 Monday, Oct. 31st.

Wain- Periods 1-6 Tuesday, Nov. 1st.

Malca – Periods 6 Tuesday, Nov. 1st.

Bryant – Period 1 Tuesday, Nov 22nd.
