Boys Basketball Season Comes To An End

The boys basketball team’s playoff run came to an end yesterday, losing a heart-breaker to Driftwood Middle School 36-34.  Both teams had several leads throughout the game, but neither could pull away.  The Falcons held onto a 1 point lead late in the final period, but it was Driftwood that hit an incredible shot as the buzzer sounded to escape with the victory.  The boys season ends with an 11 and 2 record and their first division championship in four years.

Congratulations Falcons on an excellent season!

Basketball Playoffs

The boys basketball team began their playoffs yesterday, with an impressive win over Attucks Middle School, by the score of 41-21.  It was another outstanding defensive effort for the Falcons.  After leading by 3 at halftime, the boys came out in the second half and took control of the game.  The victory advances the boys to the second round of the playoffs, which will be held on Monday, possibly here at the Cove.  Keep it rolling Falcons!

Boys Basketball Wins Division

The boys basketball team traveled to Nova Middle School yesterday, to play for the division championship.  The large crowd was treated to an exciting game and a ferocious comeback put on by the Falcons.  The boys came away with a hard-fought victory, by the score of 35-32, in a game that came down to a missed Nova 3-pointer at the buzzer.  The boys trailed Nova for most of the game, until late in the second half, when they cranked up the defense and pulled ahead for good in the final seconds.  The win puts the boys at 10 and 1, clinches the division championship, and sets up their first playoff game tomorrow.  The game will be played against Attucks Middle School right here at The Cove, with the tip-off beginning at 4:30pm.

Math Team

Fifteen members of the math team competed in the Mu Alpha Theta Regionals Competition on Saturday at Coral Glades High School.  Students from 35 high schools and 5 middle schools in the tri-county area all competed in this prestigious contest.  This was our Math club’s first time competing in a math contest against high school students.

Our Geometry team took 4th place and our Algebra team took 1st place. Six of our students ranked in the top 10 individually in Algebra I and 2 students ranked in the top 15 in Geometry.  Congratulations to all those who participated.

Basketball

Congratulatons Lady Falcons on a great win last night and on your wonderful season. Coach Thompson would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication! Go Falcons!!
