Basketball Playoffs

The boys basketball team began their playoffs yesterday, with an impressive win over Attucks Middle School, by the score of 41-21.  It was another outstanding defensive effort for the Falcons.  After leading by 3 at halftime, the boys came out in the second half and took control of the game.  The victory advances the boys to the second round of the playoffs, which will be held on Monday, possibly here at the Cove.  Keep it rolling Falcons!

Boys Basketball Wins Division

The boys basketball team traveled to Nova Middle School yesterday, to play for the division championship.  The large crowd was treated to an exciting game and a ferocious comeback put on by the Falcons.  The boys came away with a hard-fought victory, by the score of 35-32, in a game that came down to a missed Nova 3-pointer at the buzzer.  The boys trailed Nova for most of the game, until late in the second half, when they cranked up the defense and pulled ahead for good in the final seconds.  The win puts the boys at 10 and 1, clinches the division championship, and sets up their first playoff game tomorrow.  The game will be played against Attucks Middle School right here at The Cove, with the tip-off beginning at 4:30pm.

Math Team

Fifteen members of the math team competed in the Mu Alpha Theta Regionals Competition on Saturday at Coral Glades High School.  Students from 35 high schools and 5 middle schools in the tri-county area all competed in this prestigious contest.  This was our Math club’s first time competing in a math contest against high school students.

Our Geometry team took 4th place and our Algebra team took 1st place. Six of our students ranked in the top 10 individually in Algebra I and 2 students ranked in the top 15 in Geometry.  Congratulations to all those who participated.

Basketball

Hardwork. Dedication. Entertaining. These are all just a few words you could use to describe the Lady Falcons Girls basketball team. Though the girls had a trying season, they finished with a solid 5 and 5 record after taking home a win last night against Seminole, 45 to 25. Congratulatons Lady Falcons on a great win last night and on your wonderful season. Coach Thompson would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication! Go Falcons!!

Boys Basketball

The boys basketball team kept rolling yesterday, defeating Seminole Middle by the score of 37-25.  It was the boys eighth straight win, and upped their record to 9-1 for the season.  This places them in a tie with Nova Middle in the division.  After falling behind early, the Falcons gained the lead at the end of the first quarter.  They went into the halftime break with a slim 3 point lead.  The third quarter is when the boys took control of the game.  Their defense picked up and their lead increased to 12 points going into the final period.  From their, the boys were able to maintain their lead to close out the game.  Monday, the boys will travel to Nova Middle School to play for the Division Championship.  Then it’s onto the County playoffs, which will begin on Wednesday.  Good luck Falcons!
